MASL announces 17-team league for 2019-20 season

KANSAS CITY (July 19, 2019) – With only 126 days until the start of the 2019-2020 Regular Season, the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced the roster of teams who will compete for the chance to hold up the Ron Newman Cup Trophy. The 2019-2020 season will see 17 teams compete for the chance to lift the Ron Newman Cup in April 2020. These teams will be split into two tables, an Eastern Conference and Western Conference. This season will feature two teams who did not compete in the last campaign. Stars’ hot start not enough in Monterrey

MONTERREY, MEXICO – The Tacoma Stars (11-12) jumped out to a nice lead Sunday but Monterrey (18-4) was able to turn the tables and snag a come from behind win 6-4. In a game marred by technical difficulties at Arena Monterrey, MASL leading scorer Nick Perera notched a hat-trick and Stars keeper Danny Waltman had two assists in the loss. Stars lose at home to Fury

KENT, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (10-10) and the Ontario Fury (9-11) went to penalty kicks on Friday to determine a winner and the visitors converted on two of three attempts to take a 5-4 victory back to California. Stars stumble again in Texas, split long road trip

HIDALGO, TX. – The Tacoma Stars (4-3) wrapped up a four-game road trip Sunday evening in an 8-4 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas (2-3). The loss sends the Stars home 2-2 on the trip. Unlike the first three matches of the road trip, the Stars stuck first in this one as Michael Ramos scored his fourth goal of the season with 4:45 left in the opening quarter. EL PASO, TX. – The Tacoma Stars (4-2) went in to El Paso County Stadium on a roll after two road wins to begin a four-game road trip. The El Paso Coyotes (1-3) were a team looking for their first win of the season. After five lead changes and six tied scores, the Coyotes broke into the win column with a 9-7 victory over the Stars. Stars sign free agent veteran Pablo da Silva

TACOMA, WA. – The Tacoma Stars have announced the signing of Major Arena Soccer League veteran and free-agent Pablo da Silva. Da Silva appeared in 20 games last season with the Cedar Rapids Rampage and St. Louis Ambush. In those games he racked up 25 points on 10 goals and 15 assists. In addition, da Silva notched four power play goals on the year. Da Silva’s impressive 20-year pro soccer career includes eight years as a pro in the indoor game.
