BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University head men’s soccer coach Greg Brisbon has announced that Bellingham native Danny Fazio will join the Vikings as a transfer from Pacific University.
Fazio, a defender that starred for Sehome High School, will be a sophomore for the Vikings when he reports to the team for the 2019 season.
As a freshman for Pacific (Division III, Forest Grove, OR) in 2018, Fazio appeared in 17 of 18 games for the Boxers, making 16 starts.
During his prep career he was a three-year varsity letterwinner, helping lead Sehome to the state semifinals as a sophomore and quarterfinals as a senior. He was a two-time First Team All-Northwest Conference selection and earned honorable mention 2A All-State honors as a senior.
Fazio is also a product of the WFC Rangers and has played for Bellingham United FC.
Fazio is the sixth newcomer that is set to debut for the Vikings at Harrington Field in 2019. He joins defender Theo Steinmetz (Shoreline, WA/Shorecrest), defender Mitchell Hutter (Sumner, WA), defender Camron Miller (Snohomish, WA/Glacier Peak/Whatcom CC), goalkeeper Brandon Locke (Federal Way, WA/Todd Beamer) and forward Alex Whiting (University Place, WA/Curtis/Tacoma CC). Walk-on midfielder Noah Rasmussen (Snohomish, WA/Whatcom CC) has also been added to the roster for the 2019 season.
The Vikings are scheduled to open the 2019 season Sept. 5 hosting Chico State in a home game at Harrington Field on the WWU campus. The complete 2019 schedule can be viewed online at WWUVikings.com/MSOC.
