The 8 schools who will play in Saturday’s WIAA Spring State Soccer Championship matches are set after a Friday of joy and heartbreak in Puyallup and Sumner.
Pasco edged Eastmont 2-1 to earn a chance at getting a title that eluded them in last year’s final. Standing in their way will be Skyline, who edged Sumner 1-0 in double overtime.
The Roosevelt Rough Riders crushed the Redmond Mustangs 6-0 to earn a try at repeating as 3A Champs. They will face fellow Metro League school Garfield, who ousted Lakeside 3-0.
In two nail-biting 1-0 matches it was the Tigers of Burlington-Edison over the Highline Pirates and the Columbia River Chieftains over the Franklin-Pierce Cardinals.
Overlake beat Seattle Academy 3-0 and Wahluke went to penalty kicks in a 0-0 match and took it 4-3 to advance to the 1A Final.
