EUGENE, OR— (Sounders U23 release) The Sounders U23 team traveled to Lane United on May 20th to play the opening away game to start the young 2018 PDL season. The men in green won 3-1 with a second half barrage of goals to take the three points.
Around the PDL NW: The Timbers U23 got back to winning ways with a great strike on Sunday in Victoria to take a 1-0 win over the Highlanders. See the clip below. On Friday TSS Rovers knocked off the Timbers U23, 3-1.
Lane United struck first in the 15th minute The score was 0-1 for Lane United as the teams went into half time.
A revitalized and reloaded Sounders U23 team came out in the second half and found the back of the onion bag three times in a span of 10 minutes with Santi Patino scoring twice and Ozzie Ramos adding another. With much work to do, the team will quickly recover and prepare for the opening weekend with a double header event Friday night at Starfire Sports Stadium.
“It was good to get points on the road but we have a lot of work to do. Credit to Lane United as they stick to their playing style and play a good brand. With guys coming in the past few days and needing time to train together, this PDL season is the same as always. We look forward to getting better each week and it all starts this Friday against TSS Rovers at Starfire. On Friday, May 25th, the Sounders Women open the WPSL season against THUSC Diamonds at 5pm with the Sounders U23 following at 7:30pm in a tilt versus TSS Rovers.
