BELLEVUE, WA–-(club release) Pateadores Washington is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Gores as Academy Director.
Chris is in his fifth year as an assistant on University of Washington men’s soccer staff. Gores comes to Washington from Florida Gulf Coast where he spent one season. Before joining the Eagles, Gores spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Harvard men’s soccer team, where he focused heavily on recruiting, and helped coach the team to numerous upsets against nationally ranked opponents.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Gores spent eight years playing professionally for five different teams in the United Soccer League. Additionally, Gores served as captain of the Puerto Rico Men’s National Team, competing in both the 2010 World Cup qualifiers and the 2005 Digicel Cup.
Gores played collegiately at Stanford. Where he led the nation in scoring defense and helped the Cardinal finish second in the NCAA Tournament during the 1998 season. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in international relations.
Chris also brings thirteen years of experience coaching youth soccer.
In 2011 Gores received the FIFA recognized United States Soccer Federation National ‘A’ License.
The youth soccer club Pateadores of Costa Mesa, California has established its first chapter in Washington and second outside of California. Pateadores Washington will train and play in Bellevue, Washington. Pateadores was founded in 1987 and is one of the largest youth soccer clubs in Southern California and is member of the US Soccer Development Academy with 6 Boys Teams and 4 Girls Teams. They hold the U17/18 Academy 2010/11 National Championship along with 3 USYS National Championships (2013,2013,2014) and 3 US Club National Championships (2005,2006,2012). They are a Nike Sponsored Premier Club and partnered with AS ROMA. Pateadores is a Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 organization.
Pateadores Washington will be the Pateadores hub for new affiliate expansion in the northwest. Pateadores Washington will be able to assist in club growth, coaches education and player development. Pateadores offers its players academic and college preparatory support as well as a three pronged professional pathway into the next level of soccer through its affiliations with USL, MLS and Serie A clubs. Pateadores Washington will expand these opportunities to players in the Northwest.
Pateadores Academy Washington is the elite teams for both boys and girls made up of players from all of the Pateadores Washington clubs. The focus with the academy is continued player development, Development Academy level training and college coach exposure. The goal is simple: give players who want to play in college the right training and right exposure to do so. The academy believes there is a place for every player and it’s up to the staff to help the player understand his or her place and assist in placing that player. The academy team will have access to Pateadores’ DA team coaching staff, seasonal DA trainings, unique academy level camps, access to tryouts for the residential program, intercontinental and international travel and meaningful game play with special emphasis on technical application in a tactical environment.
Pateadores WA Academy is open to any player in the Northwest but aims to partner with Pateadores Washing Clubs to create a path for players looking to advance in the sport. The academy will follow a professional training guideline and mirror the DA experience. Coaches for the academy will meet the DA required coaches credentials and will have college coaching experience.
Pateadores WA is be led by Dave Fox Pateadores Chapter President and Rudy Lawrence the Director of Coaching. Rudy brings a USSF class “A” coaching license and 19 years coaching experience including 5 seasons as assistant coach at Duke University and two seasons as USDA U18 assistant coach. Rudy played at Cornell University and Hatha BSC Youth Academy of the Bundesliga Berlin, Germany. Washington is proud to have him lead the academy program.
