The 2018 Northwest Premier League (NWPL) season kicked off on Saturday with three matches going final and a contest to be played on Sunday.
Washington Timbers 5-0 Yakima United
VANCOUVER, WA— The defending NWPL Champion Timbers (1-0-0) broke open a 1-0 halftime score early in the second half to pull away from the visiting Hoppers (0-1-0.) Maddison Maffeo scored the lone goal of the first half in the 30th minute. WTFC erupted for a bunch of goals after the break. Hannah Eakins made it 2-0 in the 48th. Isabelle Morales scored twice, in the 53rd and 55th minutes, and the Timbers held a big league. Morales’ second goal was assisted by Sarah Teubner. The last goal of the game came from Julia Sattler in the 73rd to make it 5-0 on an assist from Allyson Findlay.

Washington Premier 1-1 Olympic Force
PUYALLUP, WA— Early and late goals set the tone as WPFC (0-0-1) and Olympic (0-0-1) drew in the season opener for both sides. Washington Premier went up 1-0 in the 15th minute on goal from Amanda Rickey. The match stays close and the Force earned a road point when they drew level in the 79th minute on a goal from Megan Beisley.

Blackhills FC 0-0 Twin City Union
OLYMPIA, WA— Blackhills FC made their NWPL debut by drawing their first-ever match 0-0 at Ingersoll Stadium. Carly Becker was in goal BFC to record the shutout. On the other side Twin City Union kept a clean sheet under the play of Emily Sorenson. Both keepers faced shots with the visiting Union absorbing more of the attack from the Blackhills squad eager to win in their debut.
