Ramos made a splash with the First Team in the Evergreen Premier League’s inaugural 2014 season, finishing as the second leading scorer in the league with 11 goals. The revival of his career saw him finish his collegiate career at Whitworth the following fall and go on to be drafted by Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. He would spend two seasons with the then professional Kitsap Pumas in 2015-16 before joining Puerto Rico FC in the North American Soccer League in 2017. While with PRFC he also saw action with the Puerto Rico National Team (eligible as an American citizen). Ramos holds a significant place in EPLWA history as the first player to register a hat-trick, tallying all three in a 3-2 win at Wenatchee May 24, 2014.
shadow-sc-500Also returning to the team after several seasons absence is Karl Muelheims. One of the First Teams attacking stars, Muelheims recently completed his bachelors in nursing (BSN) in Kansas City and has re-located back in his hometown, enabling him to return to his longtime club.
Fernando Alvarez is back after missing the 2017 campaign. The Northwest Nazarene product dazzled the fans two seasons ago as a member of the First Team, scoring 10 goals in 2016 to finish second in the league.
Longtime Shadow players Nick Hamer, Spencer Wolfe and Jesse Retan will suit up again this season. Hamer is one of the all-time scoring leaders for the team while Wolfe and Retan have led the back line and midfield, respectively, over the course of several seasons.
Back for a second season are Eric Espinoza and Bryan Hernandez. Espinoza registered two goals and two assists in NPSL last year along with another two goals in EPLWA and Hernandez played nearly every game in the NPSL for the Shadow last season. Espinoza’s NPSL performance earned him an invitation to the league’s national scouting combine in the fall.
A new face joining the mix this season is local Sandpoint product Tanner Williams. He returns to the area after having played professionally in Latvia last year and will be a welcome addition to the squad. Check out his story [+]
