The Sounders U23 have partnered again with the Muckleshoot Tribe, Muckleshoot Tribal School, and the Muckleshoot Department of Education to bring an exhibition game to the community. The Sounders U23 will host a free clinic for the young players in the area at 2pm on May 5th at the Muckleshoot Tribal School field. Following the clinic, the Sounders U23 will kick off against local powerhouse, Washington Premier FC ’00. The WPFC ’00 team has qualified for nationals and will use the game as preparation for the event.
“It truly is an incredible opportunity to have the Seattle Sounders U23 Men’s Team come to our Muckleshoot Tribal School to share “the global game” with our children and our community,” said Joseph Martin, Assistant Tribal Operations Manager of Education, “Having the opportunity to be coached and mentored by the Seattle Sounders U23 players and coaches in the soccer skills clinic and also having the opportunity to watch a world class match on our Muckleshoot Tribal School pitch will continue to fuel the dreams of our boys and girls to stretch for the stars and become the highest caliber scholar athletes.”
The exhibition game serves as the first pre-season game for the Sounders U23 team as they prepare for the 2018 PDL season.
“We are very supportive of our local teams and clubs and WPFC has many older teams that have continued excellent runs into national tournaments,” said Darren Sawatzky, Sounders U23 Head Coach and General Manager, “It’s exciting to deliver a high level game to help them get ready and for us to look at some local players for our team as we prepare for the season. To get this opportunity to share the game with the Muckleshoot Tribe makes the day exciting for everyone.”
Admission to the game is free and the game will feature many local players. The Sounders U23 kick off their PDL home season on May 25th at Starfire Sports Complex with a double header with the Sounders Women. Tickets can be found at http://www.soundersu23.com.
