Former Kitsap Soccer Club mainstay Mike Scharf’s soccer journey might be adding a new stop after next week.
Scharf will be starting a trial with Seattle Sounders 2 FC on Monday, an audition that could potentially see the left back added to the S2 roster for the coming season.
“Just like any trial, its a professional opportunity going into it,” Scharf said. “I’m just staying focused, staying fit and looking for a contract to come out of it. Any opportunity I’m presented with, I want to take full advantage of it.”
S2 is the reserve team of the MLS’ Seattle Sounders and plays in the United Soccer League. S2 will play its home games at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
“For me, personally, it’s a big opportunity,” Scharf said. “I know the Sounders organization is very highly regarded around the Northwest and around the country. So it’s a great club to have an opportunity with.”
