Clubs from four leagues set to play in Capital City Preseason Tournament in Salem this spring

10615406_946405958719363_8313967343825875464_nSALEM, OR— The Portland Timbers U23 today revealed their 2018 PDL season schedule. The defending Northwest Division Champions will also host the Capital City Preseason Tournament presented by Vagabond Brewing the last weekend in April and first weekend in May at the Capital FC Fields in Salem, Oregon . The tournament will feature the Timbers U23 (PDL) along with PDX FC (NPSL), Washington Premier South Sound FC (EPLWA) and Twin City Union FC  (Western Washington Premier League.)

Timbers U23 Head Coach Aaron Lewis played a big part in organizing the tournament. The Corbin University Head Coach also led the Vancouver Victory to the 2016 Evergreen Premier League title.

“The Timbers U23s are very excited to be hosting a preseason tournament down in Salem this Spring,” says Lewis. “I believe the competition will help our team prepare for the US Open Cup, build excitement heading into a challenging PDL schedule, and help build relationships with quality clubs in our region. We respect the other teams and leagues represented in this event, and believe this tournament can further showcase the strong soccer culture the Northwest has to offer.”

On Saturday April 28 the Timbers U23 will play new club Twin City Union FC (Centralia / Chehalis) out of the newly forming Western Washington Premier League. That match will kick off at 7 PM. Earlier in the day (4:30 PM) PDX FC (Portland) of the National Premier Soccer League will play Washington Premier South Sound FC (Tacoma / Puyallup) of the Evergreen Premier League.

The winners on the 28th will match up to play again the following Sunday May 6 at 5 PM. The two clubs that lost on the 28th will play each other on the 6th at 2:30 PM.
