Reign FC remodel continues as defender Mathias is traded to NC

reignfc-croppedSEATTLE, WA— Seattle Reign FC announced that it has traded defender Merritt Mathias and its natural 2019 2nd round pick to the North Carolina Courage in return for their natural 1st round pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft.

Mathias joined Seattle prior to the 2015 season from FC Kansas City, where she featured in the squad that defeated Reign FC for the 2014 NWSL Championship trophy.

Mathias started 17 matches for Seattle during the 2015 regular season, delivering two goals in the club’s second-consecutive NWSL Shield-winning season. In 2016 she picked up one goal in 17 starts, while in 2017 she nabbed two goals in 21 starts.
