TACOMA, WA— The Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) today announces that after a vote of club coaches and operators, Kevin Flavin of the Olympic Force (Offense) and Danny Minniti of the Tacoma Stars Reserves (Defense) are the WISL Players of the Week for matches played January 27, 2018.
Kevin Flavin (Offense) – Olympic Force
Kevin Flavin was named Offensive Player of the Week in the WISL for his hat trick and assist in his club’s 11-10 win over the Snohomish Skyhawks last Saturday at the Olympic Sports Center. Kevin had a host of rivals for the honors — all on his team. Alex Hernandez scored a hat trick as well, and Leo Potts garnered 2 goals (including the match-winner) and 2 assists. In the end WISL voters nearly unanimously voted Flavin’s performance as the best on offense.
Danny Minniti (Defense) – Tacoma Stars Reserves
Danny Minniti was named Defensive Player of the Week for his shut-down efforts on Bellingham’s front two and for leading TSR to four power play kills in their big 6-4 win over the Hammers last Saturday at the Tacoma Soccer Center. There was also praise for Danny’s teammate Adrian Correa and his possession in midfield. In the end WISL voters overwhelmingly selected Minniti for his work in shutting down the WISL’s number one offense.
