SEATTLE, WA — Washington senior Justin Fiddes was selected in the first round as the 17th overall pick by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the first round of the Major League Soccer Superdraft.
Fiddes is the second Husky picked to play in the MLS from the 2017 squad after Handwalla Bwana signed as a Homegrown Player with Sounders FC last week. Overall, Fiddes is the 13th Washington player selected in the MLS draft or signed homegrown over last five seasons.
“Fiddes has all the tools to play in the MLS for a long time,” said UW Head Coach Jamie Clark. “He has the pace to influence the game on either side of the ball and own the wide areas of the field. Most importantly he’s got a great work ethic and will continue to grow as a player and overcome the increasing challenges of the pro game.”
