TACOMA, WA— The Western Indoor Soccer League today announces that history has been made in our Player of the Week honors. Voted on by WISL league and club operators, the results for January 6, 2018 have produced ties for both offensive POTW and defensive POTW. The four players below become the first set of honorees to finish even in the voting. The Tacoma Stars Reserves become the first WISL club to have three players of the week in the same week.
Brendan Quilici (Bellingham United) – Offense
JJ Schmeck (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – Offense
Brendan Quilici and JJ Schmeck both scored two goals to lead their teams to wins on Saturday January 6th. Brendan helped BUFC take an 8-5 win at Oly Town FC. JJ lifted Tacoma over Snohomish 6-3 at the Tacoma Soccer Center. WISL voters were evenly split on who should be honored, resulting in a tie that thus honors them both.
Mark Lee (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – Defense
Aaron Anderson (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – Defense
Mark Lee was all over the pitch against the Skyhawks, who themselves nominated him for player of the Week. Aaron Anderson snagged 23 saves in goal for #TSR to keep any Snohomish hopes at bay in Tacoma’s 6-3 win. Again voters couldn’t decide who should win. Instead, both players received large numbers of votes and ended even.
