The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) has announced the 2017 NWAC Baden Soccer Players of the Year.

Sophomore forward Sydney Warren, Tahoma HS/Maple Valley, WA., rewrote the record book at Peninsula scoring 31 goals, sixth most goals in NWAC history. The North Region MVP, Warren helped the Pirates to 20-1-0 record, a team record number of goals in a season (142) and a runner up finish at the NWAC Championship. Warren has inked with the University of Portland for the 2018 season.

Sophomore forward Israel Gonzalez, Grandview HS/Grandview, WA., was a dominate force in turning around a CBC squad that finished near the bottom of the East region standings a year ago to a playoff contender and second place finish in a perennially strong region. Gonzalez, The East Region MVP, scored 16 of the Hawk’s 42 goals and with 4 assists, tallied 42 points on the season. CBC fell in a PK shootout to eventual NWAC Champions Highline in the quarterfinals. Gonzalez is currently considering several four-year colleges for the 2018 season.
