The Grays Harbor Gulls have yet to hold an official practice, let alone play a match, yet they already have been on local radio (listen) and the front cover of the local newspaper’s sports section (see below.) Add this to an earlier write-up, a feature from right here on, and an upcoming 2018 article on American Pyramid Blog, and the Gulls have been able to get some quality media attention.

The excitement extends to the pitch where the Gulls are hosting informal kickarounds during the wet seaside winter to help local players get fit for open tryouts. Two days after Christmas more than a dozen guys joined in a session. See a few Facebook photos below.

So many unknowns remain to be answered by the Gulls and the league they are helping to form, the Western Washington Premier League. What will the level of talent and play be like? How  many guys will turn out? Will people be interested in watching? Can the early interest of the Gulls be turned into a complete season of coverage?

These are questions any league and any club would ask before a first-ever season. The joy and excitement in Aberdeen and Hoquiam comes from knowing that Grays Harbor is in the game. Questions are going to be asked of them on the pitch, play to play, and off the pitch, match to match.

The challenge and the fun is in answering them.
