Spokane soccer community learns of the passing of teen player Kyle Van Liew

FC Spokane_LOGO_cmyk-01SPOKANE, WA— The Spokane soccer community is learning today that 16-year old Kyle Van Liew, missing since November 3 and the subject of an intense search and social outreach campaign, has been found dead.

Van Liew was a star player for FC Spokane and played on a Puget Sound Premier League (PSPL) Surf Academy team.

FC Spokane posted on their Facebook page:

Erik Oman, League Technical Director for the Puget Sound Premier League tells goalWA.net, “Kyle last played for the PSPL Academy in 2016 on our Boys 2001 team. While I was not coaching that team at the time, I did work with Kyle indirectly as an Academy Staff Coach.

“Kyle was a great kid to have in the program; he was a talented player and an outgoing personality in the team. His death comes as a huge shock. All of us with the Academy wish his family, friends and teammates our sincerest sympathies.”
