SPOKANE, WA— The Gonzaga women’s soccer team won their 10th match of the season in a 6-2 victory over San Francisco Friday.
The Zags (10-2-1, 2-1-0 West Coast Conference) scored six goals in a game for the first time since a 6-0 win over Portland State on Sept. 19, 2000. GU also reached 10 wins in a single season for the first time since 2007, and only the sixth time in program history.
Six for Redhawks in Chicago
CHICAGO, IL—Seattle University women’s soccer won, 6-1, at Chicago State Friday afternoon. Madeline Racine recorded a goal and three assists, Kelsey Eagle scored two goals and the Redhawks won their 15th straight Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season game, tying their own conference record for longest such win streak.
SU (5-6-1, 1-0-0 WAC) pounded the Cougar (1-13-0, 0-1-0 WAC) defense throughout the match. Eagle got the Redhawks on the board at 30:04, finishing a Leahi Manthei assist. Manthei made it 2-0 at the 38:11 mark. The hosts scored late in the half, but Seattle U went into halftime with a 2-1 lead and a commanding 13-2 advantage in shots.
