LogoWARS 2017: Oly Town, Seattle Stars face off in Final (Vote NOW!)

That was some late push that Oly Town FC and Seattle Stars FC put on last night in the 2017 LogoWARS! When I went to bed the other two clubs were holding slight leads. I awoke this morning to see the polls frozen (closed) in the opposite directions.

Oly Town Artesians out of Olympia Washington will defend the LogoWARS title they won the last time we held a club competition (2015), and they will do it against a side having a surge of success in 2017. Seattle Stars FC debuted a new logo this year and then went on to win the Evergreen Premier League (Men) and Northwest Premier League (Women) regular seasons. The women fell to the Washington Timbers in the NWPL Final.

Artesians versus Seattle Stars

As fate would have it, the Stars got late, late votes to knock out the Washington Timbers by 54 to 46%. Was it a strategy to wait until the end to get the vote out? Whatever it was, it worked for the Stars.

Oly Town also trailed much of the way against new club Tri-Cities Alliance FC. Then they mounted several social media campaigns that reminded viewers of what their logo means and the inspiration behind its various elements. It worked. The Artesians snuck through by a narrow 51-49% margin.

Always Evergreen

The results mean that the winner of the LogoWARS will once again come from the Evergreen Premier League. Previous winners have all been EPLWA sides: Bellingham United, Yakima United, Oly Town FC.
