In recent days goalWA.net has featured some of the improvements being made to college soccer facilities around the state of Washington.
As the video at the top of this post shows, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have also just put in a video scoreboard near their main soccer pitch.
The new Daktronics boards in Spokane, funded entirely through the benefaction of Gonzaga Athletics donors, will take the game atmosphere to a new level with intro videos, instant replay, animations and graphics.
“We’re very appreciative to the benefactors who provided this fantastic addition to our field,” women’s head coach Chris Watkins said. “With their generosity, we will be able to add to an already great fan experience.”
Daktronics began installation on Aug. 4 of a 24-foot by 12-foot video screen surrounded by a new scoreboard that keeps score, time and statistical information. The structure replaces the existing scoreboard in the northwest corner of the field.
“We are very grateful to our generous benefactors that made this possible and look forward to an exciting season at Luger Field,” men’s head coach Einar Thorarinsson said. “The new video board is a tremendous addition for our fans and student-athletes, and will add another element to our gameday experience.”
In Yakima, the Yaks of the NWAC are excited to see their new scoreboard as well. They tweeted the photo below.
