The race to win the Evergreen Premier League got a bit tighter on Saturday July 22 as Seattle Stars FC drew 0-0 with Washington Premier South Sound at French Field in Kent while Bellingham United took a 3-1 away result over Vancouver Victory in Ridgefield.
The results still leave Seattle in control of their own destiny. If they win their final match away at Vancouver on July 29 the Stars will win the EPLWA. Bellingham has two matches left, Sunday July 23 at home against the Olympic Force and Sunday July 30 at home against Yakima United. If the Hammers win both (and they will be favored to do so at home) then they would need Seattle to draw or lose at Vancouver. If it plays out that way, BUFC would win the league.
It was a hot afternoon at French Field in Kent and Seattle and WPSS tried their best to break the scoreless duel. It was 92 degrees on the scoreboard and maybe 10+ degrees hotter than that on the pitch.
Meanwhile down in Ridgefield the Hammers made quick work of the Victory, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before Vancouver could answer back in the 40th minute. It went scoreless after that. See a Hammers report on the match here.
In another EPLWA match played Saturday the Olympic Force topped Yakima United 2-1 at Gordon Field in Bremerton.
