Reign FC begin three game road trip in Houston

reignfc-croppedSEATTLE, WA— (Reign release) This Saturday, Seattle Reign FC will visit the Houston Dash for the first of two matches at BBVA Compass Stadium this season. The game will be broadcast on Lifetime as the NWSL Game of the Week, marking the first time Seattle has been featured on the network.

“The Lifetime exposure for the league is huge and vital,” said Seattle Reign FC head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. “We’re glad we can have our opportunity to get on there and we want to put on a performance that we’re proud of.”

Kickoff is set for 1:00pm PT and fans can also watch the match online on, via the Lifetime iOS and Andriod apps, or attend our away match viewing party at Atlantic Crossing Pub. They can follow live play-by-play of the match at Reign FC’s official Twitter page, @ReignFC, and join the conversation using the hashtag #HOUvSEA.

Reign FC’s (2-1-3, 9 points) previous match was a 1-1 tie against the Orlando Pride. With the result, Seattle has never lost to Orlando at Memorial Stadium, and are undefeated in their past 10 home matches.

“I was disappointed after the game that we didn’t get the three points,” said Harvey. “Overall, the goal we conceded we were disappointed with. We have to get back to learning that sometimes games aren’t going to be super easy for us, which this one wasn’t. We have to learn how to win games 1-nil, and that’s a huge part of our development for us.”

NWSL-Logo_no_textSaturday’s match kicks off a three game roadtrip for Reign FC, their longest away stint of the 2017 season. So far this season Reign FC is 0-1-1 on the road, however the club’s all-time road record against the Houston Dash is 3-0-0.

“Now that we didn’t get the three points against Orlando, it puts us in a position where in these three games we’ve got to pick up points where we can,” said Harvey. “They’re all going to be tough. We’re always confident when we get on beautiful fields like all three of those are that we can play the game the way we want to play it. We also know we have to slightly tweak things in preparation for the environment. We have to take each game as it comes.”

All-time, Reign FC have a perfect 8-0-0 record against the Dash. No other team in the NWSL holds a perfect record against an opponent. Seattle has scored 24 goals in those eight matches, and allowed only six.

“Coming off the victory against Washington it was hard to really get that fight and desire for the whole of the game against Orlando,” said Harvey. “There’s no doubt we have that in preparation for Houston. We have done well against them, but there will be one day where we don’t and we have to make sure that’s not this week.”

Houston is coming off back-to-back losses to Sky Blue FC, most recently falling 2-1 at Yurcak Field in New Jersey on May 20th. Despite the losses, the Dash have scored in five of their six matches, with Poliana and Kealia Ohai tied for the team lead in goals with two each. Reign FC have shutout the Dash at BBVA Compass Stadium once in the past three meetings there.

“We’re striving for that clean sheet and I think we are getting closer and closer,” said Reign FC defender Rachel Corsie. “It all comes down how we defend front to back. When we’re organized and our shape is good it’s difficult for anyone to break us down. That’s really been our focus.”

Reign FC return to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, June 24th when they host Pride Night presented by Carter Subaru and face FC Kansas City. Single match tickets and VIP experience packages are available. To purchase tickets, visit or call the Reign FC ticket office at (855) REIGN-FC.
