Kitsap SC announces signing of Jesus “Chuy” Sanchez for 2017 NPSL season

kitsap_soccer_club_logo2_smallBREMERTON, WA— (club release) Kitsap Soccer Club has announced the signing of attacking midfielder Jesus “Chuy” Sanchez for the 2017 National Premier Soccer League season.

A longtime fan favorite, Sanchez made his professional debut with Kitsap in the USL Premier Development League in 2014, leading the Pumas to the PDL national championship game. This season will be his first in the NPSL.

“It’s always important to us as a club that we sign players who can connect with the local community,” associate head coach Liviu Bird said. “Having played for us for a couple years and coached youth soccer in Kitsap County, Chuy is a player our fans will instantly recognize and be able to connect with.”

He played for Kitsap last season, recording a goal and three assists in 10 games. For his career, Sanchez has eight goals in 51 career appearances, including the 2015 USL season with the Oklahoma City Energy.

“On the field, his experience with will be invaluable in guiding our younger players to their goals of playing at the highest level possible, as Chuy went through the journey from being a college player to a professional,” Bird said. “We’re excited to have him back.”

Sanchez, 26, is a native of Mazatlan, Mexico, but he grew up in Chula Vista, Calif., near San Diego. He played four seasons at California State University Bakersfield before turning professional in 2013.

Training sessions for Kitsap Soccer Club are set to begin on May 1, and the regular-season opener against Spokane Shadow FC is scheduled for May 20 at Gordon Field at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton.
