Reign FC visit UW Huskies Saturday night

reignfc-croppedSEATTLE, WA— (club release) Seattle Reign FC will wrap up their preseason slate with their annual match against the University of Washington (UW) on Saturday April 8. This will be the fourth straight year Reign FC have faced UW, and they will look to improve upon their perfect 3-0-0 record against the Huskies.

Kickoff is set for 7:00pm PT at Husky Soccer Stadium on the University of Washington campus. While there will be no live stream of the match, fans can follow live play-by-play at Reign FC’s official Twitter page, @ReignFC.

“We’ve just got to put right the things we didn’t do well against UCLA,” said Seattle Reign FC head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. “We’ve now got to get ruthless in front of goal and make sure we’re hard to beat at the other end.”

washington_huskiesSeattle is coming off a 3-2 victory against UCLA this Tuesday. It was the club’s first-ever match against the Bruins, and saw Reign FC come from behind to earn a win with goals from Nahomi Kawasumi, Kiersten Dallstream, and Christine Nairn.

“We had 80 to 85 percent of the possession and that was in their own half,” said Harvey. “We weren’t clinical enough in front of goal and we gave away some goals we were disappointed with…but loads of positives out of the game.”

The match will be a familiar setting for Reign FC midfielder Lindsay Elston, who played for the University of Washington from 2010 to 2013. During her senior season, Elston played in all 20 matches for the Huskies, starting 18.

“I never thought I would get a chance to play there again,” said Elston. “To be back on the field [at Husky Stadium] will be great.”

The Huskies finished last season with a 7-12-1 record, going 5-3-0 at home. This will be UW’s second match of their Spring schedule, having already faced the University of Central Washington.

“We have to make sure we take care of ourselves,” said Harvey. “If we do the things we know we’re good at well then the result will take care of itself.”

Fans attending the UW match will have the opportunity to enter a raffle benefiting the Austen Everett Foundation (AEF). Seattle Reign FC and University of Washington are proud partners of AEF.

Up next, Seattle will open their 2017 NWSL regular season on Saturday, April 15th at Memorial Stadium when they host Sky Blue FC. Single match tickets are now available. To purchase tickets, visit or call the Reign FC ticket office at (855) REIGN-FC.
