BELLINGHAM, WA— Bellingham United are keeping the Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) trophy for another year after they used a 4th quarter explosion of five goals to pull away from the Olympic Force 10-4 on Saturday night at a sold-out Bellingham Sportsplex. (Match photos by Jon Bergman.)
The Hammers have now been to all three WISL Finals, falling to the Tacoma Stars in 2015 and then topping the Olympic Force in both 2016 and 2017. This time it was a close match for 3 quarters. It was 1-1 after the 1st, then 3-1 Hammers at the half. The Force won the 3rd quarter and it was just 5-4 for Bellingham going into what was setting up to be a cracker 4th quarter. That’s when the Hammers pulled away, scoring 5 goals to make the final score look like more of a rout than the match actually was.
