Chris is a local, and thoroughly involved in local soccer.

“I would like to thank the Seattle Stars for the opportunity to take over the women’s NWPL team and be a part of a long-standing and reputable club,” Wells says. “I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and success that can be accomplished with the strong group of current and former college players already expressing interest in the team.”

With his playing career cut short from a series of injuries, Chris spent time as a NCAA D-I and professional referee during college before stepping into the coaching ring. Outside of the Stars, Chris has been on the coaching staff for Highline College since 2013, the Seattle Reign of the NWSL (women’s top professional division in the United States) from 2014 to 2016, a staff coach at Maple Valley Premier and is the current girl’s head coach at Kent-Meridian High School since 2012.

With the professional side, the Reign accomplished a 37-11-16 record over the three years and two championship appearances, as well. And at Kent-Meridian, Chris has helped to stabilize a program that once had a 12-year winless streak before snapping that during his tenure with the program.

The Stars will hold tryouts for the NWPL roster on Sunday February 26 at 4 PM at French Field in Kent. See the poster below for further details.
