SEATTLE, WA—“I grew up playing premier soccer and also played at the Division I and semi pro level (Women’s Sounders),” says Allison Tenney as she begins to explain her passion behind Seattle Ignited Women Project. “I am now a college coach at Seattle U and I feel very strongly in the message that the women speakers at our event will deliver to youth athletes (and all women) who may be in attendance.”
The single-evening event is being help on Saturday, February 11 from 4-8pm at Seattle U. and features three nationally recognized speakers: Author and activist, Erin Brown, former pro soccer player and member of the USWNT, Lori Lindsey, and ESPN SportCenter anchor, Dianna Russini.
“The event is dedicated to redefining what success and strength mean as a woman,” Tenney says. “This will be an empowering and inspiring opportunity to hear from nationally recognized leaders in their field. My goal in creating the event is to redefine success and help young women gain a new perspective on the many ways to be a strong female.”
Tenney was featured in this story at GirlsGoneStrong.com, where she talks about her life and fitness career. Allison is married to David Tenney, Sports Science and Performance Manager for Sounders FC.
