NWAC decides semifinalists on dramatic soggy soccer Saturday

The NWAC has its semifinal matchups set after a soggy Saturday of high drama around the state of Washington that saw the #1-ranked men’s side get knocked out and two schools from Pierce County advance.

In Men’s play, Tacoma’s Titans went to penalty kicks after a 2-2 standoff with top-ranked Peninsula’s Pirates. The Titans took it 4-3 in kicks from the spot. Meanwhile another match was headed for a shootout as the Raiders of Pierce College drew 1-1 with the Chemeketa Storm before scoring all 5 PK’s in a 5-3 shootout advance.

The Bigfoot of Spokane left little doubt as their Men knocked around the Edmonds Tritons 5-0. Highline’s Thunderbirds edged Whatcom’s Orcas 1-0.

It will be a county derby next weekend in Starfire as Tacoma plays Pierce. Highline and Spokane will play in the other NWAC Men’s Semifinal
