SPOKANE, WA—(GoZags.com) The Gonzaga women’s soccer team scored three goals in an 11-minute span to complete a thrilling 4-3 overtime comeback win over Pacific on Senior Day at Luger Field Sunday. Every senior that played in the match had an impact in the wild finish.
The Zags (6-7-2, 2-4-0 West Coast Conference) trailed 3-1 in the 80th minute, before making the furious rally. It’s the first time GU has rallied from a two-goal deficit for a win since beating San Francisco, 3-2, after trailing 2-0, on Nov. 2, 2014. It was also the Bulldogs’ first overtime win since defeating North Texas in double overtime, 2-1, on Sept. 19, 2014.
“What a win for our seniors,” Gonzaga Head Coach Amy Edwards said. “It was such a gutsy and gritty performance! A big thank you to Tommy, Cody, and the entire facilities staff for getting Lugar Field playable this weekend after all of the rain this past week. They put in so much hard work and effort, so we owed them our best and two wins!”
