Boston Breakers Reserves win 2016 WPSL title

color_wpsl_logo(July 31, 2016) – The Boston Breakers Reserves beat the San Diego SeaLions Sunday afternoon July 31 in Columbus, Ohio to capture the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) National Championship.

 After a scoreless first half, the Breakers opened the scoring in the 50th minute off a goal from Katie Lenz. In the 75th minute, Gilda Doria doubled the Breakers lead, and with just seconds remaining, Chanel Johnson capped the scoring to give the Breakers Reserves the 3-0 victory.

 The Reserves, who won the WPSL New England Division with a 10-0-0 record, advanced to the national championship after defeating the Chicago Red Stars Reserves, 2-1, Saturday in the national semifinal.

The Sounders Women lost to the Sea Lions in an earlier playoff round after going undefeated in division play.
