Spokane Shadow clinch inaugural season NWPL championship


The Spokane Shadow are the first-ever champions of the Northwest Premier League after they shut out the Seattle Stars 4-0 on Saturday July 16 at Starfire Sports Complex Stadium.

shadow-sc-500The Shadow (9-1-0, 27 points) won the league with two matches to go on their schedule.

Tiara Pittman-Thomas gave Spokane a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute off of an assist from Marissa Mykines.

NWPL Primary CrestIt was 2-0 Shadow in the 56th when a Mykines shot was followed up for a goal by Sarah Cox.

Spokane made sure of their title clincher with a third goal in 66th, a long rip from Mykines.

4-0 was the final when the Shadow got an own goal after a deflected shot from Mykines.

The Shadow play again on Sunday in Marysville against Fuerza FC before coming home to Spokane to host South Sound in bith club’s final match of the season on July 30th.
