The Spokane Shadow Women of the Northwest Premier League have been blasting past opponents all season. Their +48 goal differential is a testament to their dominance. Now Spokane resumes league play this weekend needing just one more win to take the inaugural 2016 NWPL season Championship. The Shadow can do it Saturday in Kent against the Seattle Stars or Sunday in Marysville against Fuerza FC.

The Shadow would be a worthy champion in any year, but this season they have been chased by the unbeaten Shock of South Sound FC. The Shock will rue all of their missed chances in 5 league draws. South Sound’s 6-0-5 record is impressive yet frustrating for them. It includes a win over the Shadow, but too many draws to be the leader.
There is also an interesting four-team jostle to see who can finish in third place.
The NWPL was founded this season with seven clubs to give elite adult women soccer players more chances to play locally in a competitive statewide competition.
