Sounders Women beat OSA FC at Starfire

TUKWILA, WA— (club release) In front of a crowd of 450 at Starfire Stadium on Tuesday night, June 28th, the Sounders Women took a 4-1 victory over OSA to take sole possession of the top spot in the WPSL Northwest Division. The game featured many former Sounders Women players coaching and playing for the OSA set up.

Kaycie Tillman started the onslaught with a goal in the 13th minute of the game. Following a stellar save by Cassie Miller, Megan Connolly hammered home a goal assisted by Brie Hooks. It was 2-0 in the 35th minute with the Sounders Women fully in control. Connolly would then dish out an assist with Natalia Kuikka continuing her goal scoring form. Kuikka was on fire in Oregon this past week for the Sounders Women.

Just as the game looked to be a rout, former Sounders Women player Lindsey Patterson scored a goal to bring OSA back within striking distance. The Sounders Women, prepared well by head coach Kim Calkins and her staff, would answer almost immediately. Kelly Beck hammered home goal number 4 to make it 4-1 heading into halftime. The second half saw a dominant possession game for the Sounders Women and the final score remained 4-1 in favor of the first place Sounders Women.

The Sounders Women take a break now until two away games on July 10th against OSA and July 16th against Vancouver in British Columbia. The game against OSA could very well have playoff implications but the Sounders Women are firmly in the driver’s seat for a playoff position and the top spot in the WPSL Northwest Division.
