OSA FC Men (twice), Women win away

osa_fcKENT, WA—(OSAFC.com) After a slow start to the season, with 2 losses and a tie, OSA’s men’s team had two great victories in their double header weekend away in California.

Friday night OSA came out strong winning 3-1. Two goals were scored by Steven Wright, the 22 years old forward from UW, who found the back of the net in the 27th and 36th minutes. The last goal was scored by the Italian defender Marco Dugo, at the 50th.

OSA FC and Sacramento Gold had played each other three times last season, loosing each game to the Gold who were the 2015 Golden Gate Champions.

NPSL Official Logo 2016The Man of the Match award was given to Andrew Aur who created Steven Wright’s two goals. Aur was the real drive behind OSA offense, scoring two assists and creating several more opportunities, two of which Wright should have easily put in. Aur was also strong on the defensive end, using his speed and positioning to break down the attacks of the opposing team.

The guys played again on Sunday in the early afternoon, against Real San Jose. OSA FC was able to control the game from the start and went on to win 5-1.

Sean Russell scored within the first 2 minutes. Steven Wright put two more in at the 24th and 40th minutes. Matthew Stefanko scored in the last minute of the first half. The final goal was by Robert Landeros, in the 66th.

Steven Wright, the young player from the University of Washington scored 4 goals in 2 games, contributing substantially to the team’s wins.

OSA left the weekend with 7 points in 5 games with a 2-2-1 record, while the Portland Spartans FC have 8 points in 4 games with a 2-1-2 record.

There is still a lot more of the season left, and the the two Northwest team have to play each other 4 more times before the title of 2016 Northwest Champion is awarded.

osa_fcVANCOUVER, BC— The OSA women were were victorious in their first match of the WPSL season winning 4-1 over North Shore Girls Soccer Club.

OSA began the scoring early, taking the lead after three minutes when striker Chalise Baysa poked in a bouncing ball from inside the 6-yard box.

North Shore equalized in the 30th minute off a cross and finish against the run of play and the score would remain 1-1 into halftime. OSA took the lead quickly in the second half at the 48th mark. The North Shore goalkeeper deflected a cross and center midfielder Lyndsey Patterson was quick to pass the ball into the bottom corner.

color_wpsl_logoThen in the 75th minute OSA found the net again by building from the left flank. It all started with an overlap from left back, Suri Johnson, getting the cross off and finding Arica Slawson for a first time volley to the upper 90.

To finalize the score, Kennya Cordner got on the score sheet with a left footed shot from 20 yards out to find the far post side netting.

“It was a great result to start the season – especially on the road” says Head Coach Malia Arrant. “We are happy to start the season off with a win.”

OSA women are on the road again on June 4th and 5th in Oregon for a double header, against Portland Spartans and Eugene Timbers.
