s2-goalwa-coverSEATTLE, WA — (club release) Sounders FC 2 began its 2016 USL season on Friday evening with a 1-0 home loss to Sacramento Republic FC, with the visitors scoring the match’s lone goal via a second-half penalty kick. S2 continues its five-match season-opening homestand on Wednesday against Arizona United SC, with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. PT at Starfire Stadium.

After a scoreless first hour of play, referee Baboucarr Jallow signaled for a penalty in the 62nd minute on a challenge from Seattle defender Tony Alfaro. Sacramento’s Thomas Stewart buried the attempt from the spot to the bottom right corner.
