NPSA Foundation giving back in Bellevue

NPSA-Foundation-Logo-blue-on-yellow-WEBBELLEVUE, WA— (submission to goalWA.net) The NPSA Foundation is a non-profit youth soccer organization that provides premier-level training for children 6-15 years old completely free of charge.

Each training program is 12 weeks in duration with the Foundation offering 3 programs per year; Winter/Spring, Summer & Fall.

Currently, the sessions are located in Bellevue at Robinswood Park every Sunday evening but you can expect to see the Foundation spread it’s reach to other areas on the Eastside in the near future.

“We chose Robinswood as our training base due to it’s central location and easy access for any families living in the Bellevue or surrounding areas. We plan on continuing to hold our training program at Robinswood moving forward but also intend to add several other locations to better serve the Greater Eastside community as a whole”, stated Adam Nowland, Founder and President of the NPSA Foundation.

Nowland continued, “Each session is topic-based and our coaches follow a curriculum to ensure that the players develop their skills and understanding of the game. We also focus on the players having fun and enjoying the learning process which sometimes gets forgotten at the premier level of youth soccer.”

Nowland is a former-professional soccer player that moved over to the States shortly after retiring in 2010. He played for EPL team, West Ham Utd, and Nottingham Forest as part of a 12 year career that included over 200 appearances and 20 goals in the top leagues in England.

These days, Nowland has turned his attention to coaching the next generation of soccer players in Washington and enjoys passing on his knowledge and passion for the game.

“The game of soccer has given me a lot and it is important for me to give something back. The NPSA Foundation was created to provide young players with the same level of training and education that I enjoyed when I was growing up in England. The costs involved with Premier and even Select soccer these days is out of many families’ reach which leads to dedicated and talented players walking away from the game before they have even scratched the surface. The NPSA Foundation empowers underserved youth in the Bellevue and surrounding areas to develop the soccer skills needed to excel at the top local level. Soccer should be for all not just the ones that can afford it.”

On top of providing training programs that cover 36 out of 52 weeks of the year, the NPSA Foundation also offers a scholarship program for players that want to take their game and commitment to the next level.

“Our opening Foundation training program was in Fall 2015 and our professional coaching staff worked with 120 players in total over the 12 weeks. Several of these players went onto tryout for NPSA age groups and earned spots on teams for Spring season. The Foundation provided 4 players with full scholarships and they are currently preparing for the kick-off to the PSPL league season with their respective teams and professional coaches.” stated Nowland.
